Human Error and Patient Safety (HEAPS) Course

The Human Error and Patient Safety (HEAPS) Course was developed in NSW in collaboration with the aviation industry, in response to alarming rates of medical mishaps throughout the hospital system.

HEAPS is a 2 day training course suitable for all clinicians and for non-clinicians who work closely with clinicians and patients, in all Territory Hospitals, Clinics and Community Health Centres. The training is delivered by interdisciplinary teams of 2 to 3 presenters; these are drawn from Medical Consultants and Registrars, Clinical Nurse Educators and other interested nursing staff, interested Allied Health staff, and non-clinical staff with interest and engagement in the area.

For further information in relation to HEAPS training contact Sue Stanway on 89 226193 or sue.stanway@nt.gov.au or Medical Education Administration on 89 226768
